Movie Night!

Yeah okay no falling over from shock that there is two posts in a day, but tonight was Movie Night...they are rare. For some reason about...5 or 6 years ago, I quit watching movies. I'm not sure why, they just kinda stopped being important. I watch a lot of TV...well okay I listen to a lot of TV...in the background while I'm doing something else. I don't go to the theater very often, and I gave up renting movies, because a) I didnt get to watch them or b) I could have bought them twice with the late fees. Yeah I've rented 3 movies and had an eighty dollar late fee on them. Lets just not go there. So nowadays, we just buy them, if they suck well they suck, but the Movie Gallery has that great buy 2 get 2 sale on used DVD's so if they sucked, well we're out 5 bucks or so...cheaper than the late fees! So tonight we decided to watch some of the stuff that's been gathering dust on the shelf for a while...

So some reviews :)

1) Waiting- Recommended by one of the Geeky Spouse's friends to us as Clerks with Waitresses, I made it through about 30 minutes of the movie before my stomach revolted. I have not determined if it was from the movie or the takeout wings we were eating while watching the movie. There is this one truely disgusting scene that I won't describe here, (lets just say its every horror story you've ever heard about sending your food back to the kitchen at once), that was the turning point for me to bail before the wings landed on the carpet. I personally referred to it as Clerks without the wit. The spouse agreed.

2) Mr. and Mrs. Smith- not to bad I adored the cuts between the therapist and the action, and the fights were cute. It wasn't oscar worthy but hell who cares it was fun to watch things blow up.

3) Where the Heart Is... I have always loved this movie, I watched it years and years ago with my mom. Understand I have strict guidelines for "chick flicks". Most of them I hate, (English Patient=barfworthy). They have to make me laugh, because hell thats what life is about a lot of the time, laughing at all the crap that happens. Cause you can't strangle people. So this was the every once in a great while I force the Geeky Spouse to watch what most men regard as a chick movie. So far he hasn't hated any of them. Steel Magnolias was one, YaYa sisterhood was the other...and this one that I can remember. Of course this was the first one that didn't require a holiday showing. We watched YaYa on Mother's day and Steel Magnolias (well half of it) on our anniversary. This one is still a great movie. I was worried a bit because sometimes when you watch something as a kid and then again as an adult...well they go differently than you remember. This one still rocked, and with the added bonus of the guy from Numb3rs being in it...which I totally forgot about. I don't know if he liked it as much as the other one's but its not quite as funny as they were. As for me I cried a bit, which is always good for a movie like that. There are only 2 movies that make me bawl every time I watch them, My Life with Michael Keaton, and The Color Purple.

Believe it or not....

I've actually written a lot of blog posts over the past few months...problem is they have all been in my brain and not in my electrons.

Its been a wild wild world...

so a quick (or not so quick) run down on the life

1) Lost a good friend due to a difference of opinion. Not a little one like I say tomato you say tomahto kinda difference, something large and huge. It hurts, hurts me and the GS both. But there's a lotta pissed in there too, mainly due to a lack of being able to admit that possibly they did something wrong. And not just be sorry cause they got caught.

2) Gryffindork and BugBug went to Florida to spend time with The Poppa. The Poppa is my 85 year young grandfather and the rock of my young life. A trip of this magnitude pretty much means doing an entire year's worth of laundry to get ready. Okay not really that much but close. Maybe six months of laundry. It also meant making sure there were easy and quick things for the GS to make to keep from starving while I was gone. Not to mention that GryDork had to spend time with the biological father, which she very, very, very, very did not want to do. As I explained to her this was the last time I would "make" her, she's 12 now and if she doesn't want to go, they I no longer have to force her into going. Mostly I didn't want any of the older folks down there to have to drive her to the other older folks houses for the rest of the trip...

(Okay that probably needs some explanation. Nana and Gramps are the couple who used to watch Grydork when she was little, they are pretty much another set of grandparents, but they are getting up there in years, so driving isn't fun. They live about an hour or more from The Poppa, so since I wouldn't be there to drive...well it was a means to an end.)

3) The GS and I spent 3 weeks ALONE...okay anyone with kids will know this is like mana from heaven. It wasn't like a full vacation, but it was still fun. I did a lot of home renovations while he was working...

a) Painted BugBs room in 2 tone pink...this involved removing just about everything from the room to paint it.
b) Painting the foyer, library, and the green mile hallway. The hallway is the longest thing I have ever seen outside of a hotel. Its literally 35 feet long. Yeah its big. And not its green instead of light poop brown...and then hanging chair rail in said hallway.
c) Retiling the foyer into something other than nasty linoleum "wood". Its not a brick thing, hurt myself doing that..and that was like last week I did that one.

4) Picking the kids up from florida...see we drive, its like 10ish hours to get there and back, but the GS came this time so nicer trip...packing the car was fun, but nicer trip :)

And now my fingers are all tired, and the brain doesnt remember all the other stuff, but hopefully will be back sooner than the last time...
